RAD

Teens that struggle with Reactive Attachment Disorder may display various symptoms. At ABM we can help families that struggle with the issues. We offer the loving structure and secure environment that allows these young teens to receive the care they need, and address the root emotional issues that hinder them from forming strong healthy relationships with Families and caregivers.

On average about 80% of our boarding school population consist of adopted young teens that have been diagnosed with RAD. We have had great success in helping these teens establish the tools necessary for the formation of strong relationships. While there is still much research that needs to be done on this disorder we have found that the consistent approach that we have here at ABM seems to enable them to build trust and move past the emotional duress that seems to hold them back from moving towards healthy relationships.

Reactive attachment disorder is a rare but serious condition in which an infant or young child doesn't establish healthy attachments with parents or caregivers. Reactive attachment disorder may develop if the child's basic needs for comfort, affection and nurturing aren't met and loving, caring, stable attachments with others are not established.
